Bee Raw Honey Pairings

Bee Raw Honey Pairings

Typical supermarket honey is processed, heated, filtered, and treated so it has a familiar color and translucence that our culture has come to know as ‘honey.’ At The Shop at Oxford Exchange we love carrying brands with a great story and Bee Raw is nothing short of that. Bee Raw makes honey as nature created it - raw and from a single floral source, making each honey as unique as its provenance. Bee Raw sources from wild and organic floral origins, they help protect honeybees, and ensure artisanal beekeepers and small sustainable farmers receive a premium price for a premium product.

Here are some of our favorite honey pairings:

Fruit & Cheese

Stilton cheese and other mild blue cheeses are accentuated by the hint of blueberries in the Maine Blueberry honey. Add a few lemon slices, melons, and raw blueberries to your cheese board to blend the tart and sweet flavors in perfect harmony. Also create a delicious parfait with greek yogurt and fresh berries, topped with the Maine Blueberry honey for an energy-boosting breakfast.

Teas

Green teas and oolong teas are mild and light, which make them the ingenious pair for a subtly sweet honey. We paired the Maine Blueberry honey with Blueberry Pomegranate green tea from TeBella Tea Company. Made from premium Sencha green tea, its soft undertones of gojiberries, lemon grass, and cornflower blossoms highlight the blueberries and pomegranate seeds, creating a robust flavor that won’t overpower.

Cocktails

Honey simple syrup is a great alternative sweetener for your cocktails and quite easy to make. We made a Maine Blueberry honey simple syrup and used it to create one of the most notorious honey-syrup cocktails: the Bee’s Knees. Follow the recipe below to create your own:

½ Cup of Water

Cocktail

1 oz (2 tbsp) Honey Simple Syrup
¾ oz (1 ½ tbsp) Gin
½ oz (1 tbsp) Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
½ oz (1 tbsp) Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
